OnCue was a revolutionary TV product by Intel that aimed to simplify and drastically improve how users interact and experience television. The concept focused on ensuring live TV and channels remained the primary entry point into the experience, and not a dashboard of apps.
Interaction was primarily controlled through a capacitive touch remote and voice. The touch remote allowed viewers to swipe back in time on a particular channel to view previously aired content, like an automatic DVR (but with no local recording, all the content was streamed).
Our company, Archetype, was acquired very early in the project to lead the user experience and development of all front-end software. I was personally responsible for the UX of the product (including the set top box, remote, all mobile apps, website, and more).
